Dr. Carol Bernier is an extraordinary caregiver whose impact is far reaching and worthy of a gigantic WOW! 

Sometimes, a patient will send a note of gratitude for the great emergency care they received by Dr. Carol Bernier.  Other times, our emergency medicine team will hear what a supportive and caring colleague they have in "CB."  Currently, she is getting the recognition that she deserves as this year's American Red Cross Medical Hero!  WOW!  

CB receives this award for her extraordinary dedication to our region's prehospital care.  She is elevating care using evidence-based guidelines and holds her EMT and Paramedic teams to high standards.  She does this firmly, lovingly, and with a big helping of humor.  It is her uncompromising commitment to leaving a lasting impact on her community and beyond that makes her a standout human and physician.  She got a WOW from Jazmine Otey with WSLS 10 and from the American Red Cross with her Medical Hero's Award.  Today she gets a WOW from her Carilion Family.  Well done CB.  Well done.
