Registration Is Open for Carilion Summer Camps
Every year, we offer summer camp options for different groups of kids and teens. Registration is now open, and required, for all camps.
Camp Treehouse
Camp Treehouse is a free one-day camp for children and teens, grades K-8, who have lost a loved one. The camp provides a caring, safe environment where youth can explore their feelings and concerns.
This year's camp will be held in Fincastle on May 18 from 9 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.
As part of Carilion’s Center for Grief and Healing, camps are guided by licensed counselors and local artists.

Camp Too Sweet
At Camp Too Sweet, all campers have diabetes, so children won't feel alone or different.
Carilion provides positive role models to help kids ages 8-17 establish healthy habits that will last a lifetime. Camp Too Sweet focuses on helping campers accept their diabetes, teaching them how to live a healthy lifestyle and—most importantly—having fun!
Campers interact with other kids just like themselves, who are facing the same challenges, in the beautiful and exciting setting of a residential camp. Activities include:
- Group games
- Crafts
- Music and singing
- Horseback riding
- Campfires
- Swimming
- Adventure tubing on James River
- Low-ropes group challenges
- High-ropes course (campers junior high age and older)
- Creek exploration
- Hiking camp trails
- Polar bear swims
- Educational sessions on diabetes care
Camp Too Sweet is scheduled for July 8-12. The registration deadline is May 20.
Download the registration form and print it single-sided to fill out, or call 540-224-4360 to have a form mailed to you.
