Facilities Update: South Jefferson Street Corridor in Roanoke

Along with several expansion and renovation projects underway and planned for the next few years, we also continue to evaluate the condition of some of our older buildings to determine whether they will be able to meet our organization’s future needs. 

As a result, we will soon begin demolition of the following vacant buildings located near CRCH along the South Jefferson corridor: 

• 915 South Jefferson Street, SW, a building across the street from the vacant lot that used to house the old Jefferson College of Health Sciences 
• 933 South Jefferson Street, SW, which was previously used for Life Support training 
• 953 Williamson Road, SE, a building behind CRCH known as the Archive Center

The building removals will allow us to prepare the sites for future needs, though we don’t have specific plans right now.  

Crews expect to begin work this week. The work is expected to take approximately six weeks to complete.
