Linda Watson--Outstanding Preceptor Award Winner

On September 21, the Nursing Center of Excellence presented the Outstanding Preceptor Award to Linda Watson, RN from 5W at CRMH. Members of the Nursing Center of Excellence presented her with the award alongside her team members and nursing leaders. Her nomination read, "Linda Watson is an amazing preceptor for 5W.  Many orientees have spoken highly of her and her precepting style.  She demonstrates that she is a protector because she has adjusted her schedule in order to closely follow an orientee in the married state so her charge nurse responsibilities would not interfere with the training.  She has demonstrated she is an evaluator by consistently validating competencies, providing specific, detailed feedback about orientee's progress, and communicating with leadership and the Transition to Practice Facilitator regarding orientee performance.  She has demonstrated she is an outstanding educator/coach based on the feedback from her orientees who state how she takes time to explain her rationale for her prioritization and decision-making.  She is a facilitator because she exhibits a warm and inviting approach to all of her orientees.  She stays calm, level-headed, and helps them feel at ease and supported.  She also facilitates skills training and simulation for orientees as the need presents.  She is dedicated to the role and demonstrates all the Carilion Values through every role of the preceptor and every interaction with her orientees!" Linda's commitment and compassion toward not only her patients, but also to her Carilion Clinic family, deserves to be recognized and celebrated. Congratulations!
