Appropriate Waste Disposal

Red Bag waste –  items saturated or visibly contaminated with blood or other potentially infectious materials: bandages, gauze, personal protective equipment such as gloves, gowns, goggles, plastic tubing.

  • All Red Bags MUST be disposed of in the appropriate RED waste containers.
  • DO NOT put red bags in regular trash. EVEN IF the contents of the red bag do not “qualify” as Red Bag waste as defined above. Red bags should NEVER be put in regular trash

ANY item, regardless of color, with a biohazard symbol on it MUST be disposed in an appropriate Biohazard Waste receptacle. Items with this symbol are NEVER to be put in regular trash.
