If you switch to flex time, your PTO balance and accrual rate may be affected.

  • If you change from full-time, regular part-time or part-time to flex-time, your PTO balance will be paid out and you will no longer accrue PTO because you are no longer in an eligible status.
  • If you switch back to a PTO-eligible status within 1 year, your PTO accrual rate will be reinstated.
  • If you transfer to a PTO-eligible status after 1 year of being a flex-time employee, you will begin accruing PTO based upon the date that you transferred back to a PTO eligible status (full-time, regular part-time, part-time).

For more information, see the Benefits Guide - Status Change (.pdf).

  • If you are rehired into a PTO-eligible status within 1 year of your separation, your original PTO accrual date will be reinstated.
  • If you are rehired into a PTO-eligible status after 1 year, your PTO accrual will be based upon your rehire date.
  • When you retire (receive a pension), you will be paid your PTO balance and forfeit any EIB hours you have.
