Outstanding Preceptor Award
On January 31st, The Nursing Center of Excellence awarded the Outstanding Preceptor Award to Christopher Tomlin, Psych Tech in Behavioral Health. Leaders from the Nursing Center of Excellence presented him with the award alongside his team members and unit leaders. Zoe Kirk RN, who submitted the nomination said that "Chris is an incredible preceptor and leader. He provides support to all staff during stressful situations. He is extremely knowledgeable on policies. He encourages his orientees to provide care that not only keeps themselves safe but the patients safe. He is excellent at teaching verbal deescalation and has been pivotal in deescalating many aggressive psychiatric patients. Chris is overall an amazing preceptor, an amazing coworker, and amazing friend. We are lucky to have him precepting new staff at the rehab". Of special note, Chris also received three other nominations for this award!! Chris's commitment and compassion toward not only his patients, but also to his Carilion Clinic family, deserves to be recognized and celebrated. Congratulations!
