We Honor Veterans in Franklin County!
As part of the outreach for the We Honor Veterans program, Carilion Clinic Hospice of Franklin County created a display offering letters to veteran visitors to the MOB. CFMH staff who are veterans were also invited to participate. Written by active-duty service members from across the country, the letters express appreciation for the service and sacrifice of those who had gone before them in the armed forces. Eighteen letters were received by veterans who visited the facility. The envelopes also contained invitations to the Veterans' Coffee Hour held monthly January-October at Franklin County Parks & Recreation's Essig Center. The Coffee Hour is an outreach of the We Honor Veterans Program, sponsored by Carilion Clinic Hospice of Franklin County in partnership with the VA and the National Hospice and Palliative Care Organization.
Carilion Clinic Hospice of Franklin County achieved Level 5 of the We Honor Veterans program in September, 2023, for the third year in a row. Level 5 of this program entails staff education, community outreach and education, with an emphasis on honoring Veteran service members in our communities. Carilion Franklin Memorial Hospital and Carilion Clinic Hospice of Franklin County are forever grateful for each of those who answered the call to serve our nation, and to their families who also sacrificed for the cause of freedom.
