Stephanie Spencer: a positive spirit in a worrisome time
Carilion Giles Community Hospital implemented public screenings at the main entrance on March 13, 2020.
On that very first day, our community health educator, Stephanie Spencer from Community Outreach stepped up to be our very first screener. Geared up in the appropriate PPE, not her normal attire, she has served in this position since that time, sharing her positivity and good spirits with all our patients and visitors, as well as training many others who serve in this position as well.
Although her face is mostly hidden behind a mask you can see the friendliness and kindness in her eyes, and we are very fortunate to have her advocating for our community and ensuring the safety of our staff and patients, says hospital VP, Kristie Williams.
