Special Recognition of Dr. Cheri Hartman for Community Service

In November, Friendship Living of Roanoke will recognize five individuals who display values of accountability, compassion, positivity, respectfulness and teamwork. Cheri Hartman, Ph.D., will receive the Vision and Values award for her important work with Carilion’s Back on Track youth addiction program, Office-Based Opioid Treatment (OBOT) program, and years of community service for youth, including Kiwanis playground fundraising.

Much of Dr. Hartman’s career has focused on science-driven approaches to prevent school dropouts, teen pregnancy, childhood obesity and substance misuse. In addition, she partnered with her husband, David Hartman, M.D., to develop Carilion's Office-Based Opioid Treatment (OBOT) program which incorporates addiction treatment best practices for adults struggling with the disease of an opioid use disorder. Dr. Hartman currently serves as grant management director for Carilion’s Department of Psychiatry and Behavioral Medicine.
