Rocky Mount Community Hero: Carl Cline

Recently, the mayor of Rocky Mount, Holland Perdue, recognized Carl Cline for his work and leadership in the Rocky Mount Community and surrounding area. It goes without saying, that the CFMH area has seen so much positive impact on the community it serves with his leadership driving the way. Below is a copy of the social media recognition for Carl:

"COMMUNITY HERO: Carl Cline is a name some of you may not know, but I am certain you feel his impact in our community. Carl has spent more than 36 years in healthcare; first as a registered nurse, then flight nurse manager for Carilion Life-Guard 10. He first came to Franklin Memorial Hospital as the senior director of Nursing before becoming Administrator and Vice President. 

Saying Carl runs the hospital as Administrator doesn’t do justice to the impact he has had in Rocky Mount and greater Franklin County.

In addition to the thousands of annual admissions and emergency room visits to Franklin Memorial, Carl has worked hard to expand the scope of care offered. Under his leadership, the hospital completed the first phase of a $15 million expansion to bring additional services, such as OBGYN, hand surgery, plastic surgery, podiatry and more, and expanded operating rooms and equipment. He has led two programs that lessened environmental impact at the institution, such as an initiative that dropped fuel usage by nearly 30 percent and a recycling program that should recycle more than 7,000 pounds a year.

As Chief Administrator, Carl has led a full operating room renovation, expanded from two 300 sq. foot operating rooms to two 600 sq. ft. operating rooms and two procedure rooms. The facility PAC-U has increased from eight beds to 15 beds and increased the number of surgeons using the facility from four to up to 22.

With all of that, Carl continues his work to better serve patients by working to bring ENT services and pain management services to CFMH, as well as a dedicated Pediatric Department.

Cline is active in the community, promoting many wellness initiatives, outdoor recreation, and taking leadership roles with the Rocky Mount Rotary.
