Problem Solving to Assist a New Patient

Submitted by addillon3 on

Recognition to Kelly Chewning, Ambulatory Procedure Scheduler, for going above and beyond to assist a new patient unfamiliar with Roanoke find his way to a consultation appointment at the Interventional Radiology clinic.  When the patient called the clinic, he had already been to Riverside 3 who sent him to Crystal Spring where his appointment was, but he got lost and was driving around downtown Roanoke.  He was on speaker phone, making it very difficult to hear him, and he was giving names of streets that he was on or passing, but he did say he could see the Virginia Museum of Transportation.  Kelly agreed to talk to him, pulled up a map on the computer and was trying to direct him as he drove.  Ultimately, she asked him to pull over and talked him through opening Google Maps, taught him how to use the app, enter our address and follow the prompts, all over the phone!  Kudos to Kelly for helping this patient get to his important appointment.
