Nurse Leader of the Year

| I am honored to nominate this nurse for nurse leader of the year. Her impact on our team is undeniable. She was recently recognized for preceptor of the year and that only begins to reflect her dedication and excellence she demonstrates. As our CTL, she goes above and beyond the expectations of her role. She continuously supports and strengthens our unit through in-services and ongoing education to ensure every team member feels confident, supported and equipped to provide the highest level of care to patients. What truly sets her apart is her responsiveness and accountability. Anytime a concern or opportunity for improvement is brought to her attention, she acts immediately. She never hesitates; she always listens, takes actions, and follows through. Because of this, our unit runs more smoothy, and we feel valued and heard. She leads by example with compassion, integrity, and amazing work ethic. She creates an environment that no matter what comes our way, we always feel ready to take on the task. |
| Jessica is CTL, preceptor and scheduler for the 4 south PACU. Jessica has so many amazing qualities and wears different hats as preceptor, scheduler and CTL. First, as preceptor Jessica has elevated our education with pediatric care. Jessica coordinates mock peds codes and adult codes, we have had these opportunities throughout the years to help establish a solid understanding of possible complications that we may see in our area. In addition, Jessica arranges with respiratory education on airway management of peds. In adults Jessica brings in anesthesia to come and educate in areas where issues have come up. Anytime you ask Jessica a question her response is " I am on it". Jessica is "on it" and follows through, despite how much time it takes to find any answer to a question. As CTL, Jessica is always fair and kind. She is patient and stays by our side in times of distress or needs. Jessica will call us at home and check on us or call us when she is at home if she knows we had a difficult day. Jessica has her head "on a swivel" at all times and not only has the ability to see acute changes in our patients but also, she can recognize if a nurse seems to be struggling, either way she is right beside you and helping you work through the problems. Jessica has started the ROSE award for providers to help recognize achievements within OR services, this is time consuming and has required a lot of coordination to make this work, but Jessica gives recognition the time it needs. Jessica has contacted quality on repeat concerns seen in the PACU, she takes safety and patient care seriously and follows up on concerns. Jessica is a leader that makes people want to stay. She manages a fair schedule and works with a large staff to accommodate request. Jessica is so, so kind and a great listener. When our unit see's that she is charge our mantra is " it will be ok because Jessica is here today". That is not to say we don't have a unit of great leadership, because they are all great, however Jessica stands above. When you can establish your leadership role with kindness, follow through and caring and have respect from all the staff this speaks loudly to how strong these qualities are. |
| Jessica manages the PACU with such grace and skill! The day runs so smoothly with her in charge. If you ever have a critical patient she is at the bedside to help the entire time. She is so kind to everyone she speaks to. Knowledgeable about all the policies, procedures, who to contact. She tries to appease everyone with their lives outside of work and having a work life balance. She is someone I am grateful to have as my team leader. |
