Lisa Hebert-Meritt receives national award

Lisa Hebert-Meritt of Carilion Clinic Home Care was selected as the sole COTA (Certified Occupational Therapy Assistant) winner of the NBCOT (National Board for Certification in Occupational Therapy) 2023 Innovation Award, which recognizes occupational therapy professionals who demonstrate the delivery of an evidence-based, effective, and innovative program or intervention that enhances the quality of life for a person or persons.

Lisa spearheaded the development of the dementia and cognitive care program at Carilion Clinic Home Care after recognizing a need for better ways to serve clients with dementia and their caregivers in the community.  The program uses an interdisciplinary approach within Carilion as well as extensive collaboration with community agencies and service providers. It was impossible to choose one Carilion value to represent this accomplishment since it represents all five: Collaboration, Commitment, Compassion, Courage, AND Curiosity.
