Kelly Malone Wins Outstanding Preceptor Award
On February 10th, members of the Transition to Practice team and nursing leaders presented the Outstanding Preceptor Award to Kelly Malone, RN, at CRMH 11 West! Eben Kye, RN, who submitted the nomination said that, "Perhaps her most impactful role was as a facilitator. She understood the challenges of being an international nurse—adjusting not just to clinical demands but also to cultural differences in communication and teamwork. She introduced me to colleagues, advocated for me during handovers, and encouraged me to present cases during unit rounds, gently pushing me out of my comfort zone. She also directed me toward resources—protocol manuals, online neuro/trauma modules, and mentorship opportunities. Over time, she created a supportive bridge between me and the rest of the team, helping me integrate seamlessly into the unit’s culture and workflow."
Kelly's commitment and compassion toward not only her patients, but also to her Carilion Clinic family, deserves to be recognized and celebrated. Congratulations!!
