Jessica Shrewsbury--Outstanding Preceptor Award
Congratulations to Jessica Shrewsbury BSN, RN, CTL in the CRMH PACU on winning an Outstanding Preceptor Award! Members of the Nursing Center of Excellence along with NPIFs and Transition to Nursing Practice presented the award to Jessica beside her unit leader and PACU nursing team.
Jessica's nomination read: "Jessica Shrewsbury, BSN RN CTL - Preceptor of the 4 South PACU is an exceptional employee in our PACU and the organization. She maintains a complex orientation schedule for each new employee ensuring that these new employees obtain every experience possible to be successful. She individualizes the orientation for each new employee which guards the safety of both the patient and the preceptee. This means some have more shadows or experiences on other units and some get more one on one time. She maintains all the competencies and education for all the employees in the 4 south PACU and follow up frequently to ensure tasks are completed. She is quick to ask questions and make recommendations with her knowledge and background. She recently built an entirely new simulation class for the 4 south PACU to make sure our nurses are confident in every scenario. The Critical Care Simulation class is a four-hour hands-on, incorporates teamwork and includes four high acuity scenarios. I am confident that this class will help our PACU RNs be more prepared in higher acuity situations, improving patient care. The Critical Care Simulation class is incorporated into the PACU orientation and available to seasoned PACU RNs who wish to have more hands-on practice. She provides feedback to employees in real time and is at the bedside when there are questions or emergencies. Jessica receives exemplary feedback from her peers, colleagues, and leadership. She is a true role model and team leader. Therefore, I am excited to nominate Jessica for the Outstanding Preceptor award."
Thank you for your dedication to our new staff and ensuring they provide exceptional care to our patients!
