Happy Worldwide Hand Hygiene Day 2025!
Yesterday, on May 5th, the Infection Prevention and Control Department celebrated Worldwide Hand Hygiene Day! At Roanoke Memorial and our Franklin Hospital, FROG friends Paddy and Franklin joined the fun! There were also several celebrations across the system!
At RMH, Paddy and their friends from the IPC department walked through several of the units, handed out candy, sanitizer, and lotion, and also asked staff some hand hygiene-related questions for additional prizes!:)
Tables were set up at both the Riverside 3 and ION locations. RC3 had lots of traffic, and Paddy made an appearance at ION!:)
Franklin the FROG was up to his old tricks at CFMH. He walked the various departments with Angela Moore from IPC as his faithful guide. Angela and Franklin had a great time spreading the love of hand hygiene!
Christina Lafon from Giles took advantage of Hand Hygiene Day falling on Cinco do Mayo and used her creative juices to create "Sinko de Mayo" for the staff at Giles. Christina made Queso dip, which was a huge hit with the staff! She also made hand-shaped cookies and educated on hand hygiene.
Karen Mulkey at Tazewell set up education, handed out goodies and acknowledged the top hand hygiene observers from CTCH. We all appreciate their hard work!
Summer Tomlin from CRBH, took to the units for Hand Hygiene Day and created a Wheel of Fourtune game that was a lot of fun AND educational!:)
