Happy Nursing Professional Development (NPD) Week to the Transition to Practice Department

The Transition to Practice Department supports nursing services, as experts in orientation and onboarding. This team facilitates the enculturation and orientation compliance of employees at Carilion Clinic. Please join me in celebrating the great work this team does on NPD week 2023.  

This Year:

• Onboarded over 600 employees
• Facilitate the Nurse Externship- SOAR program
• Developed and manage the Outstanding Preceptor Award recognition program
• Provide continued professional development to Preceptors through Preceptor Pearls
• Supported the Home Health and Hospice Department with developing the first orientation program for a new graduate nurse in that practice environment.
• Mentor through Nurse Residency Cohorts and beyond
• Host skills lab for orientees
• Developed Ops Manager Fellowship
• Developed orientation program for new Mental Health Department (CPEP)
• Completed NPD Fellowship

These dedicated NPD practitioners motivate me every day and the above list could go much longer. Thanks for being such a fantastic group of nurses and being part of my team!!
