ASHLEY BRIGGS During rounds in MCU, I overheard Dr. Sawaya inquire with the charge nurse regarding an add on urine culture for a UA taken in the ED. The ED stated they had ordered the UC, but it was not showing as collected in the chart. Dr. Sawaya's attention to detail ensured the patient had the correct diagnostic testing, while also avoiding the need for a repeat UA that could have resulted in a CAUTI if this error was not caught in a timely manner.
