Congratulations to Jodi Rakes, RN - 8MICU, CRMH on winning the DAISY Award for June 2023!

The DAISY Award was established in 1999 as a tribute from the Barnes' family to their dear son Patrick who died at age 33.  They recognized while he was in the hospital, the extraordinary care that his nurses displayed not only to him but to his family.  Jodi's story indicates just that care and compassion for this family.  Please take a moment to read her story. 

Jodi is our angel. She was our day nurse during our loved one's stay till when we had to say goodbye to him. He had a heart attack and Jodi was his nurse for the entire time. She was actually off several days, but she somehow managed to change shifts to be with him and us. We have a large family and were mostly there the whole time. Jodi not only took care of him, she took care of all of us in a way no one else could. Unfortunately for him, he had 100% unreversible brain damage and never gained consciousness. The decision was made to take him off of life support but we had to wait until a day later because he was an organ donor. Jodi was with us for most of that journey and we are just so thankful for all of her help and guidance through this tragic time. Without her help, the our family would be more broken than we are.
