Charlie Tarasidis-Celebrating 40 years at Carilion
Today marks Charlie Tarasidis' fourth decade at Carilion. Throughout his extensive career, he has held many roles including, Pharmacy Clinical Coordination, Home Care Infusion Services, Medical Equipment and Oxygen Therapy, and Manager and Director of Retail Pharmacy Operations. Over the last few years, he has been focused on community outreach and substance use disorder. Charlie is a recognized professor in Addiction Medicine with Virginia Tech Carilion School of Medicine. He started Carilion’s first ASHP PGY-1 accredited Community Pharmacy residency and served as lead preceptor. He was also Carilion’s first Master Revive! Trainer. No stranger to accolades, Charlie has been recognized as VSHP’s “Young Pharmacist of the Year” and has received VPhA’s Bowl of Hygeia for community service. He is the only Pharmacist at Carilion to be recognized with the Carilion President’s award.
I recently asked Charlie what his advice was for obtaining a successful, four-decade career. He simply said, “Work with good, honest people and keep reinventing yourself.” Charlie has a proven track record of reinventing himself and for creating pioneering work. I’ve always been impressed with his capacity to learn new skills and propel pharmacy forward. As we celebrate Carilion proud week, I am proud to call Charlie a colleague and someone who can always be counted on. Please help me celebrate Charlie and his impact to Carilion and the community by congratulating him.
