CGCH DAISY Award Winner- Elizabeth Woodyard

Congratulations to Elizabeth Woodyard, RN from Med-Surg/SCU for winning the DAISY Award!! She is an amazing team player and exemplifies many of the Carilion Values!

When a patient needed a medication that was unavailable on a weekend Elizabeth went out of their way to get what was needed. Even though it was her birthday and she was on her lunch break (and it wasn't even her patient!), Elizabeth volunteered to go out and buy the medication and bring it back for the patient. The nurse quite possibly saved the patient from going further into encephalopathy, coma, or having seizures. The nurse’s courage to do what was right, her commitment to the patient, compassion for what the patient was going through and collaboration with the team is impressive!

It is a joy and privilege to have this nurse work with us. She is an invaluable member of the team and demonstrated outstanding core values.
