CFMH's Amanda Haynes, LPN, Comes in during holiday to help a patient to go home!
Submitted by Tracy McCown, BSN, RN, CMSRN, CFMH's Senior Director of Nursing, Unit Director of ACS/ICU/Palliative Care
We had a patient ready for discharge on Labor Day, but waiting for a holter monitor to be placed. It being a holiday, our Cardiac Rehab/Diagnostics department was closed. The director reached out to Amanda Haynes who works in Cardiac Diagnostics. She was more than willing to come in on a holiday to place the holter monitor on the patient so that they could go home. Amanda's willingness to come in on a holiday so this patient could go and enjoy her holiday, displays commitment to our patients and our facility. Amanda lives Carilion's values on a daily basis and we are blessed to have her here at CFMH!! I reached out to thank Amanda for her help. I feel her response reiterates her commitment to our patients: "You are very welcome, I don't mind at all and I'm glad she is able to get home today with the appropriate monitoring she needs. Please don't hesitate to ask if I can be of any assistance. I will always do whatever I can to help out."
