Cathy Floyd and Chinwe Ogbu Mbadiugha Track Down a Missing Medication

A patient at CNRV was using her home supply of an important and expensive non-formulary medication during her inpatient stay.  That supply ran out and she ordered a refill to be delivered to the hospital for the remainder of her stay, but it was not delivered to the pharmacy or her nursing unit.  Cathy Floyd, CPhT and Chinwe Ogbu Mbadiugha , PharmD called the refilling pharmacy and the shipping company to confirm that it was delivered.  Cathy visited many nursing units and potential delivery spots to find the medication, but without initial success.  The following day Materials Management found the packing slip and identified which unit it was delivered to.  The package was found in a secure location and brought to the pharmacy where, the medication was verified by Chinwe, labeled for inpatient use, and brought to the patient’s nursing unit.  Thanks to Cathy and Chinwe for their Commitment to ensure the patient got her medication.
