Caroline Butt's on field recognition at the Virgina Tech Football Game

The Carilion Clinic Honorary #25 Health Care Heroes recognition is inspired by the #25 jersey awarded each week to a Virginia Tech Hokies football player who is a special teams standout. Current Virginia Tech football head coach Justin Fuente began the tradition before the 2016 season.

This summer, Virginia Tech athletics and Carilion recognized standout frontline health care workers who made game-changing plays in the fight against COVID-19. Hokies fans nominated someone to receive an honorary #25 jersey as part of the “special team” that led our communities, the Commonwealth of Virginia and our country through the pandemic.
