Carilion Sickle Cell Event to celebrate our patients
On Friday, June 20, our incredible Sickle Cell Collaborative team showed just how much heart they bring to their work, both inside and outside the clinic, hosting several patients and their families at the Salem Red Sox game, a celebration that also honored Juneteenth and World Sickle Cell Day.
A big highlight of the night was watching patients KJ Logan and Marcus Noresty take to the field to throw out the first pitch. They were proudly escorted to the mound by Dr. Glenn Edwards, Chief of Pediatric Hematology and Oncology, and Chris Blake, Senior Director with the Sickle Cell Collaborative.
With specialized clinics for both pediatric and adult patients, our expert Sickle Cell Collaborative team is committed to providing lifelong care — supporting our patients at every stage and ensuring no one experiences a gap in treatment. We’re leading the way in sickle cell care, supporting patients not just at diagnosis, but every step of the way, from childhood through adulthood.
We’re so proud of our Sickle Cell Collaborative team and the difference they make every single day. Learn more about their impactful work at CarilionClinic.org/sicklecell.
