Carilion Celebrates Earth Day 2026

We proudly celebrated Earth Day throughout the entire month with a wide range of activities taking place across the system. These events showcased our shared commitment to environmental stewardship and demonstrated how small, collective actions can make a meaningful difference. Thank you to all employees who participated, and an extra special thank you to the volunteers whose enthusiasm, time, and efforts brought these events to life. 

Below is a recap of how we came together to celebrate Earth Day and sustainability: 

Personify Health Going Green Challenge: 
Hundreds of employees participated by completing daily sustainable actions, reinforcing environmentally responsible habits both at work and at home. 

Sustainability Leadership Awards: 
We recognized individuals and teams who continue to lead by example and drive sustainability initiatives forward. View the full list of award recipients here. 

Star City Compost Site Tour: 
Carilion employees had the opportunity to tour Star City Compost’s facility, gaining firsthand insight into where our food waste goes and how composting supports waste reduction and a healthier community. 

Earth Day Fairs: 
At eight locations across the system, we distributed 600 tree seedlings and 400 wildflower seed bombs. 

Clean-Up Day: 
On Friday afternoon, staff took time to step outside, enjoy a walk, and pick up litter, helping beautify our surroundings while promoting wellness and environmental care.
