Adjunctive Therapy
Kari Decker the Adjunctive Therapy Manager of the Inpatient Psychiatric Unit is always looking for ways for her team to improve the services her team offers! Kari researched and found studies to help her develop an adjunctive therapy discharge plan form. This form is given to the patients at the beginning of their stay to help them begin to identify and connect with coping skills and strategies that they can use at any time- especially after discharge. The form provides numerous areas for patients to identify resources to help them feel happier, stronger, healthier, and better connected. It can be attached to the patient's journal so that they have this with them during each therapy session, when they meet with their team of providers, and also for when they leave at discharge. They fill the form out during their stay and are encouraged throughout their time to add items to the form such as mantras that make them feel more motivated.
I observed Kari leading a group and utilizing the tool with several patients and they were clearly connecting with the information and using the form to write down their ideas and plans. Kari is outstanding in her role and as a leader. She is an innovator and is committed to improving the quality of our patients lives and the quality of services offered.
Great job, Kari!
