Accolades for our Reporting Analytics Department

Our 340B Pharmacy department recently received a request to determine the value of 340B financial savings to Carilion if specific clinics were changed to 340B eligible status.  In order to assess the potential, our staff needed to analyze data that we did not have readily available.  There was not an existing report to meet our needs.  We were also on a tight deadline to provide the analysis.  I spoke with Doug Anderson, Director of Reporting Analytics, and explained our dilemma.  Doug took the time to patiently listen to what we needed.  He also helped walk us through the reporting request process and provided tips on how to decrease the turnaround time for the report.  Despite the current workload of Reporting Analytics, Doug escalated our request because he understood the time sensitive nature and the potential financial impact for Carilion in excess of $3 million.  Doug assigned our report request to Balaji Palakurthi on a Thursday.  Balaji started working on the report and kept in close contact with me over the coming days to include asking questions over the weekend.  On Monday morning the report was ready.    Our 340B Pharmacy team and Finance was able to provide Senior Leadership the data they needed to determine how to move forward.  The hard work of the Reporting Analytics staff has helped the 340B Pharmacy department and others to look for ways to advance Carilion’s vision of providing better patient care, better community health and lower cost.  We cannot thank Doug and Balaji enough for expediting our request with patience, kindness and concern that we had the report that we needed.  Doug & Balaji are the embodiment of Carilion’s values!
