7 South
We were very short staffed with 4 RN and 1 NA for 20 patients. Dawn came over from 7S at 1900 to help cover and was extremely pleasant and helpful all night not only caring for her patients but assisting other staff with theirs willingly, proactively, and without a single complaint. Staffing was unable to send us an RN at 2300 and 7S needed Dawn back. They had two 1 to 1's and 22 patients with only 5 nurses and 1 NA on the floor. Taking Dawn back was understandable and warranted with their load. However when I discussed our situation with Rose she was extremely helpful. She knew it would make for a more difficult night for them if Dawn stayed through the night to help us, but she understood our needs and prioritized them among her own as a sister unit should. Throughout our discussion Rose exemplified the utmost degree of respect and teamwork and even after I explained that I understood they needed Dawn back and spoke with our nurses to ask if they could handle coming between halls to take a 5th patient she came over to tell me they understood what it was like, didn't want to leave us stranded and Dawn could stay to help. My experiences with everyone on 7S has always been positive, especially when dealing with: Dawn, Rose, Varsha, Sam, Morris, and all the other nurses, monitor techs, and NA's. Thank you again for all you do, for the teamwork and assistance you provide and provided last night. We are truly grateful and appreciative and look forward to returning the favor and working together further as sister units.
