What to Expect as CRMH Façade Repairs Move Forward

Beginning in mid-August, employees, patients and visitors will begin to see increased construction activity around Carilion Roanoke Memorial Hospital as the next phase of the West Pavilion brick repair project gets underway. This work marks the transition from planning and engineering into active site preparation and construction.

Reminder: Please observe all posted speed limits and traffic signs. We have received concerns about speeding on nearby residential streets due to the road closure. Please drive cautiously, allow extra travel time, and help us be good neighbors to our surrounding community.

What You Need to Know:

• Construction activity will increase in mid-August. Scaffolding installation is expected to begin in mid-August and will continue over several weeks. As work progresses, additional construction equipment and personnel will be visible around the hospital campus.
• Current traffic patterns remain in place. There are no immediate changes to vehicle or pedestrian traffic routes. Existing detours and access routes remain the same at this time. Any future traffic pattern changes will be communicated in advance once plans are finalized and approved.
• Expect an active construction area. During site preparation, there may be temporary adjustments to pedestrian walkways or areas immediately outside the hospital. Please watch for posted directional signage, follow traffic control measures and use caution when traveling through the construction area.
• This work is an important step forward. While much of the project to date has involved engineering, design and planning, construction is now moving into the site enabling phase. The repairs are designed to preserve the building, enhance safety and support its long-term future.

The work is being completed in carefully planned phases to maintain a safe environment while minimizing disruption to hospital operations. Our teams will continue working closely to keep patients, visitors and employees informed as additional project milestones are reached.
