Nov. 1 Is the Deadline To Get Your Flu Shot

Submitted by gsrader on

Don’t wait until the last minute to get your required flu vaccine! The earlier you get it, the sooner you will be protected, which is especially important because flu season is off to an early start.

Getting vaccinated is the best way to protect yourself from getting sick. While you can still get the flu after getting vaccinated, you are less likely to get severely ill. It can also reduce the risk of hospitalization.

All employees are required to get their flu shot by Friday, Nov. 1. Employee Health continues to round at each of our facilities to administer the vaccine, and a full schedule can be found on the Influenza hub

If you receive your flu shot at a location other than Employee Health or a Carilion retail pharmacy, please remember to submit an off-site documentation form to the HR Service Center by Friday, Nov. 1.

In addition to getting your flu vaccine, you can further protect yourself and help stop the spread of germs by:

  • Washing your hands frequently using soap and water or an alcohol-based hand sanitizer
  • Avoiding touching your eyes, nose and mouth
  • Cleaning and disinfecting frequently touched surfaces and objects
  • Staying home if you’re sick

If you have questions, contact the HR Service Center at 800-599-2537 or HRServiceCenter@carilionclinic.org.

The earlier you get your flu vaccine, the sooner you will be protected.

We expect this to be a worse flu season due to fewer people masking, social distancing and getting vaccinated.

The flu vaccine deadline is Friday, Nov. 1; if you are vaccinated outside of a Carilion pharmacy, remember to submit an off-site documentation form.
