Nexus Update: How Will You Use Workday and UKG?
We are planning to replace Infor (Lawson) with Workday and upgrade UKG to the Pro Workforce version. These tools are part of our Nexus project to modernize the technology we use for employee-related information and tasks.
Workday will replace My Total Access, Cornerstone and Excel expense reports. We’re upgrading to a newer version of UKG for timekeeping, scheduling and PTO requests
Do you have questions about how you will use these tools? We have created some personas that show how hourly and salaried employees might use Workday and UKG. In the graphics below, Workday tasks are shown in blue, and UKG tasks are shown in teal/green. All employees will be able to perform the Workday tasks in both images. The main differences between hourly and salaried staff are in using UKG.
Profiles in Workday: Jonah
Jonah is an R.N. in a Family Medicine practice and has worked at several locations since he started with Carilion Clinic almost eight years ago. He is a non-exempt (hourly) employee. He will use UKG each day for his hours, schedule, and PTO. He will use Workday routinely to easily access his information and to complete a variety of tasks. He likes Workday because it’s simple to use and provides greater self-service. As a busy father of two, he particularly appreciates Workday Mobile.

Profiles in Workday: Daiyu
Daiyu is a safety consultant in Carilion’s Emergency Management department. She is an exempt (salaried) employee. Daiyu is engaged, and her wedding is just two months away. She will complete almost all her employee-related tasks in Workday. She likes Workday because she can initiate tasks herself. Workday automatically knows where to route her requests, so she doesn’t need to figure out where to email a form. She can always see the status of her requests.

We will share more personas in the coming months, so stay tuned!
