National Keynote Speakers Will Highlight Resilience at Upcoming Conference
Learn about the latest topics in trauma care, EMS, patient safety, and clinical practice at the 2026 Trauma Symposium and StarPoints Conference on Wednesday, Nov. 4, at The Hotel Roanoke & Conference Center.
Inspiring Keynote Speakers
The 2026 Trauma Symposium and Star Points Conference will feature two keynote speakers whose experiences offer lessons that extend beyond trauma care and healthcare settings.
James Boomhower is a critical care transport specialist-paramedic and lead peer support director at Boston MedFlight in Bedford, Mass. He has worked in Emergency Medical Services (EMS) for over 20 years. Driven by his passion for mental health awareness in EMS, James founded the company, Stay Fit 4 Duty, and developed a peer support program, MedFlight, to promote the importance of acknowledging and managing acute stress among EMS providers.
J.R. Martinez is an Army veteran, burn survivor, actor, motivational speaker, best-selling author, and Dancing with the Stars season 13 winner. He will share his journey of recovery after suffering severe burns while serving in Iraq. His story highlights perseverance, adaptability, and the importance of maintaining a patient-centered perspective during life's most difficult challenges.
"We intentionally bring in speakers that can offer unique perspectives from healthcare and from outside of healthcare, offering insights to help us learn and grow," said Daniel Freeman, senior director of Trauma Programs. "Their stories remind us why our work matters and provide practical takeaways that attendees can apply in caring for patients, supporting colleagues, and navigating adversity."
