Make Pediatrics and Primary Care Appointments Online

In September, we expanded our online services to allow patients to conveniently schedule mammograms directly through MyChart. They can make appointments on their own time while on the go or after office hours, change or even cancel appointments—all of which saves time, helps make processes easier for our staff and frees up phone lines.

Over 600 appointments have been scheduled between three Mammography sites in Daleville and Roanoke.

Starting in May, employees and their families will be able to schedule appointments through MyChart for most pediatric and primary care practices. By first rolling out the feature to our trusted employees, we can finetune the process prior to opening it to the general public. Patients in our community will be able to participate in the near future.

“Since we launched direct scheduling with mammography last fall, participation has grown to nearly 7% of mammography patients scheduling their own appointments,” said Steve Morgan, M.D., senior vice president and chief medical information officer. “As we include primary care and pediatric scheduling options, we hope to have 25% of targeted appointments scheduled online by the end of this year.”

“The convenience of online scheduling further enhances efforts to build a digital front door to our services,” said Dr. Morgan. “Through MyChart, we already offer online access to health records, bill pay and care team messaging. Patients can also opt for virtual visits and receive text appointment reminders. We continue to partner with our patients for efficient care delivery.”

• Log in to MyChart.
• Select Visits.
• Click on Schedule an Appointment.

Primary care and pediatric patients must have visited a provider within the past two years to schedule an appointment through MyChart.
