Know the Steps to Return to Work After Illness

Submitted by blfoutz on

It’s that time of year—colds, flu, and other viruses start spreading more easily because we’re indoors more often. If you’re sick, please stay home. Return to work only when your symptoms are getting better. Remember to wash your hands often and cover your coughs and sneezes to help keep everyone healthy!

Minor Conditions

If you’ve been out for 4 or more consecutive workdays with a common minor illness, you’ll need to be cleared by Employee Health before you return to work. For most minor conditions—like stomach bugs or the flu—you won’t need a note from your provider.

Other Conditions

If you’ve had a more serious or complicated condition and missed 4 or more consecutive scheduled workdays, you’ll need clearance from Employee Health and a note from your provider. Examples include things like broken bones or pneumonia.
