Groundbreakers: Organizational Changes

After 13 years of service with Carilion, Mike Dame, vice president of Marketing and Communications (MarCom), will be leaving our team effective Jan. 30, 2022. He is relocating to Gainesville, Florida, to be closer to family and support his aging parents.

Mike joined Carilion in 2008 as director of interactive media and progressed through roles of increasing responsibility until earning a promotion of VP in 2016. His teams have earned numerous state, regional and national awards across all disciplines, and in 2018, Mike was named a Top Hospital Marketer of the Year by Hospital Marketing National.

In recent years, Mike has been a champion for consumerism and the digital patient experience, partnering with other senior leaders to develop a digital transformation roadmap that will serve Carilion for many years to come.

He has developed a very experienced and capable MarCom management team that will ensure operational continuity as we determine next steps for the department.
