First Responders to Join Santa at CRMH on Wednesday, Dec. 10

Submitted by hrcline on

Local first responders plan to deliver holiday magic to Carilion Children's patients on Wednesday, Dec. 10.

Starting around noon on Wednesday, you'll see an increased presence of first responder vehicles on the Jefferson Street Bridge outside of CRMH as part of the visit.

Roanoke Fire-EMS, the Roanoke Police Department, and the Roanoke City Sheriff's Department are helping Santa make his way to the hospital before he and his elves rappel down the exterior, waving to young patients watching from their windows. After his grand entrance, Santa and his first-responder friends will visit the unit to spread cheer, offer greetings, and brighten the holidays for the region’s youngest patients and their families.

The entire event should wrap up by 2 p.m. Given the anticipated first-responder turnout outside of CRMH, we wanted to give teams a heads-up that this is a planned visit and that there will be no disruptions to operations.

If you're looking for other ways to support our youngest patients, be sure to check out holiday wishlists for Carilion Children's and Carilion Mental Health's Child & Adolescent Inpatient Psychiatry Unit.
