Donate Life: CNRV Recognizes an Organ Donation Record
Over the past year, CNRV supported 4 organ donors, resulting in 11 lives saved—the highest number of organ donors the hospital has experienced in a single calendar year.
To honor these extraordinary efforts, CNRV hosted a Donate Life Celebration and recognition event for staff on Tuesday, April 28. Team members stopped by throughout the day to take part in donor‑honoring art activities, learn more about organ donation, and participate in a hospital‑wide moment of silence at 11 a.m.
“Organ donation reflects the very heart of compassionate care—turning loss into hope and giving patients and families a second chance at life,” says Kristi Hall, senior director of nursing.
Carilion partners with LifeNet Health to support organ donation across the region. “Working alongside Carilion’s care teams allows me to support donors and their families with compassion and respect, ensuring every gift is honored with dignity,” says Desiree Beasley, clinical nurse specialist and LifeNet health liaison.
Throughout the year, CNRV teams demonstrated extraordinary professionalism and unity, including during a deeply meaningful moment when one of the organ donors was a fellow colleague—reflecting a strong commitment to dignity, empathy, and mutual support.
