Crystal Spring Tower: A Sneak Peek of Our Progress
In 2019, we began planning a large expansion to Carilion Roanoke Memorial Hospital (CRMH). As you have most likely noticed, the exterior construction on the Crystal Spring Tower, Carilion Roanoke Memorial Hospital's newest addition, is nearing completion.
Throughout the design process, the project delivery team incorporated feedback from hospital staff on accessibility and efficiency. They also connected with community members, former patients and caretakers for their input. As a result, the facility will be laid out intuitively, allowing patients and care teams to cross floors quickly and easily.
We invited media to an exclusive hard hat tour to see the latest progress and speak with clinical teams who will work in the space. Physicians and nurse leaders guided media through the new tower to provide a first look at interiors, including the Emergency Department, Endovascular Operating Rooms, Cardiac Catheterization Labs, a sample patient room and our new helipad.

The Crystal Spring Tower will be home to most of our CVI services as well as our expanded Emergency Department and Trauma center, providing a more seamless approach to caring for our patients in a well-thought-out space.
The tower will feature new technology and enhancements that were strategically planned by members of our Human Factors team and current staff.
