CRMH Cafeteria Changes – First Use of Newly Constructed Space

Submitted by eapullin on

The CRMH Cafeteria will be closed for renovations beginning Aug. 31 through early October as part of the ongoing Dining and Nutrition Services update associated with the Crystal Spring Tower expansion.

Thanks to strong collaboration between Dining and Nutrition Services and Facilities, there will be no interruptions to food service during this time. Instead, offerings will relocate right next door, giving teams a very first look at part of the newly constructed space adjacent to the Crystal Spring Tower.

“It was critical to us that we minimized disruptions for staff and visitors,” says Pat Bird, senior director of Dining and Nutrition. “Thankfully, we’re able to relocate services into what will be the new seating area of our cafeteria once renovations are complete. We’re excited to offer this sneak peek into the new space!”

Beginning Aug. 31, the existing cafeteria and seating area will close. The current cafeteria exit doors will act as the temporary entrance and exit during renovations, with signage and a temporary hall leading diners to the new space.

Upon entering, you’ll see familiar offerings, including:

  • Hot food buffet (Jefferson Market) for breakfast (6:30 – 10:30 a.m.) and lunch (11 a.m. – 3 p.m.)
  • Noble Romans Café (3:30 p.m. – 2 a.m.)
  • Two salad bars and regular grab-and-go offerings (sandwiches, desserts, bottled drinks, etc.)

The grill will reopen upon the completion of the renovation in early October; drinks will also be limited to bottled and canned options until the completion of the renovation.

“We appreciate everyone’s patience as we go through the transition,” says Pat. “I know many busy team members rely on us for their meals. Our approach to these renovations ensures that we complete this work as efficiently as possible while best meeting the needs of staff and visitors.”

Dining and Nutrition has also worked closely with Higher Grounds Coffee Shop in the CRMH South Lobby to extend weekday hours during the renovation: Weekdays 6:30 a.m. – 8 p.m.; weekends 7 a.m. – 2 p.m.

Regular services like posting menus and offering payroll deduction payment options will continue as normal during the transition. Medical Residents also will still be able to access after-hour meals from the CRMH 13th floor pantry.
