CNRV Earns Second Pathway to Excellence Designation

CNRV has once again been awarded the American Nurses Credentialing Center (ANCC) Pathway to Excellence designation. There are only 281 hospitals nationwide with this 4-year designation. CNRV is one of 6 in Virginia out of approximately 100 hospitals statewide.

“We are honored to receive this distinction a second time,” said Kristi Hall, DNP, chief nursing officer at CNRV. “This recognition demonstrates our ongoing dedication to supporting nurses through autonomy, life balance, shared decision-making, professional development, and continuing education—all of which enable us to provide the best care for our patients.”

The designation process evaluates 63 elements of nursing performance and 6 essential standards that foster a positive work environment for nursing staff:

• Shared decision-making: Creates opportunities for direct care nurses to collaborate, share ideas, and participate in decision-making.
• Leadership: Promotes a shared governance environment with accessible leaders who encourage collaboration and emphasize leadership development, retention, and succession planning.
• Safety: Prioritizes patient and nurse safety while fostering a respectful workplace culture free of incivility, bullying, and violence.
• Quality: Centers on person- and family-focused care, evidence-based practices, continuous improvement, and population health.
• Well-being: Recognizes nurses’ contributions and provides resources to support physical and mental health.
• Professional development: Ensures nurses are competent and offers mentoring, support and lifelong learning opportunities.

These standards influence key outcomes such as turnover rates, job satisfaction, employee engagement, productivity, patient safety, and teamwork.
