Carilion Establishes Children’s Miracle Network Endowed Chair in Pediatric Medicine

Submitted by kesims1 on

In partnership with Children’s Miracle Network (CMN) of Southwest Virginia, the Carilion Clinic Foundation today announced Carilion’s first endowed chair.

Funded through a $1 million endowment from CMN, the CMN Endowed Chair in Pediatric Medicine honors Chair of Pediatrics Dr. Andrew Herman for his leadership and contributions in pediatric care at Carilion Clinic.

Since joining us in June, Dr. Herman has strengthened academic partnerships, expanded access to care with new pediatric clinics in Rocky Mount and Lexington, and grown specialty services in nephrology, cardiology, oncology, and hospital-based care.

“The CMN Chair in Pediatric Medicine represents an extraordinary investment in the future of pediatric care,” said Chief Physician Executive and President, Carilion Clinic Physicians Tony Seupaul, MD. “This endowment not only honors Dr. Herman’s exceptional work but also ensures continued excellence in caring for children and families throughout our region.”

The creation of this chair is an important step for children’s health in Southwest Virginia. It shows how donor support can enhance the care we provide now and, in the future, and sets the stage for the creation of future endowed chairs through philanthropy.

Carilion’s pediatric program is the beneficiary of CMN fundraising in Southwest Virginia. CMN partners with local businesses and organizations to fund critical medical care, specialized equipment, therapy programs, and more for our pediatric patients.
