Art and Awareness Activity at Tanglewood Center
Through Friday, Feb. 9, employees and patients are invited to share a story of healing through tiles.
Located at Carilion Mental Health in Tanglewood Center, the tile display table and supplies are available weekdays, 8 a.m. - 5 p.m. Visitors to the table can use colored pencils and stencils to create their stories on four-inch wooden tiles. There is no cost to participate.
“Stylistically similar to SWOON, the feature art exhibition at the Taubman Museum of Art in Roanoke, our tile activity helps point us to the potential for change that resides within each of us,” said Lisa Linger, Healing Arts manager. Since December, Lisa has led our Healing Arts team of artists-in-residence and diverse programs.
The finished tiles will be added to a temporary exhibit at the Taubman Museum in downtown Roanoke at the end of February, where community members can see them and gain awareness of treating mental health issues related to trauma.
