E&OD Rolls Out Virtual Visit Education

Carilion Education & Organizational Development (E&OD) implemented a new education plan to coincide with the rollout of Amwell video visits with patients at home. Based on feedback from the necessarily rapid rollout of Vidyo video visits in March as a result of COVID-19, E&OD designed training that is short, simple to understand, and adaptable to the learning needs of Carilion staff.
Short video tutorials and concise job aids are used to introduce employees to the new Amwell system replacing Vidyo. From there, E&OD visits practices to provide at-the-elbow demonstrations and training. For providers and staff that need further assistance or were unable to be on site during training days, virtual training sessions have been provided. Support after rollout is a collaborative effort between E&OD, TSG, and in particular Digital Health.
Since September 16, 2020, the E&OD has supported the Amwell rollout with:
• Over 100 site visits
• 24 virtual training sessions
• Over 2,700 video tutorial views
More site visits and virtual training sessions will be provided to bring all ambulatory practices and specialties on board by the end of 2020.
